We would like to acknowledge that we are on traditional country of the Kalkadoon (Kalkatunga) people. We celebrate our enduring connections to Country, knowledge and stories of our elders. We pay our respects to the Elders and Ancestors who watch over us and guide the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. We look forward to the emerging leaders of this country to lead and guide us through our cultural journey.
History and Philosophy
Mount Isa Flexible School is a coeducational Catholic school in the Edmund Rice tradition. It has a clear commitment to social justice and stands in solidarity with disadvantaged people of all social, cultural and religious backgrounds with a particular sensitivity to Indigenous culture. The school provides holistic learning experiences that address the social needs of students, and promotes their emotional, cognitive, spiritual and academic development.
Services
Mount Isa Flexible School enjoys a good working relationship with many Government and non-government services and agencies in order to broaden the opportunities for the young people to access assistance in their educational pathways.
Learning
Mount Isa Flexible School offers a holistic educational program to secondary school aged young people. Young people over 15 years are also offered accredited learning options from within the FLC or Mount Isa TAFE.
Child Safeguarding
Our prime focus is to promote the safety and wellbeing of children and young people under our care. We take our responsibilities for child safeguarding extremely seriously and therefore we commit to ensuring that our school has appropriate policies and practices to make it a place that is both safe and inclusive. Central to this, is student voice and agency. Our school’s child safeguarding programs are regularly updated and checked for compliance with regulatory requirements.
